A Few Things

Since I have a couple hours to kill, I figured i would FINALLY talk about my visit to see the Hagerstown Suns.Last Monday Shawn,Ryan,And myself went out to see the Suns on Feed your face Monday.Alot of laughs were had when we got there,A few of the guys who also get stuff signed had read This ,Sure glad to help anyone have a few laughs.Well we got a few things signed, And then headed over to get seated,But figured we would grab some of the free food.Just as we stood in line,It started pouring!Now Shawn,Ever the optimist,Says"oh that is all moving over us, We'll be fine in a few minutes"About 20 minutes later it finally stopped raining.What happened next you would almost have to be there to understand how lame this really was.They bring out 2 guys for a hot dog eating "championship".Now here's the problem i have with these"gimmicks",I understand it's part of Minor League ball parks,But do you really need to put a guy in a dress?And it's the same old dress they have used to at least 3 years.I really wonder what the hell they are thinking when they trot some guy out there."Hey(Insert name here)We need you to do on field promotions tonight,Can you toss this dress on?So they have this lame ass hot dog thing,And a couple guys who work for the Suns are chanting USA,USA(there was an Asian(i think)And a local guy)So the guy in the dress is Asian,Or whatever,I started chanting GUY IN DRESS,GUY IN DRESS!The 2 Suns employees must not have liked this,They were over heard saying"so cynical"Hey dumb ass,Here's a little info for you,You are the person who decided to work with the public,If by chance you can't hack someone ragging on you're lame ass side shows, Maybe think of a change of careers.Long story short, After about an hour of trying to work on the field,They cancelled the game.Now the best part,Usually if they cancel the game on Mondays you can only use the ticket for Tuesday-Sunday,They actually said you could use it for any remaining fyfm,Hats off to the Suns for this!I have always said i give them credit when they deserve it,But will also say what's on my mind.

That brings us to Friday,The Hickory Crawdads were in town for their ONLY visit to the Hub City.Shawn and I got to the stadium about 5:40,And we were amazed that the gates were open.Why you ask? Usually gates open at 6:05 for a 7:05 game.We would soon find out why the gates were open early, It seems Antietam Cable(They suck by the way lol)Was at the Muni taping a commerical for the Suns.Shawn asked me to get Pirates 2006 1st round pick Brad Lincoln,Who came almost dead last,But was very friendly.We told him we have waited 2 years to finally see him, And he said he was glad to be back on the field(Lincoln had Tommy John surgery in 2007)After getting Brad's cards signed,And talking to a few of the Hickory guys we know,It was time to head up and watch the game.Here's where i have problems with the Suns(again).If it takes having a camera to make people go nuts for your team, There is a HUGE problem somewhere.I sarcastically said it's like a bunch of trained seals.So of course after the camera guy leaves,It's the same old Suns crowd.Not really into the game,Just kinda there. One thing that did surprise me about Friday's game,The amount of Pittsburgh fans out.This area has so many people that used to live in Pittsburgh,But you only know it when the Pirates farm team comes in.Note to the Pittsburgh Pirates,Have your off season caravan come to Hagerstown,You would get a huge crowd that would be very happy to see their team. The Bucs start the 2ND half of the 2008 season tonight in Colorado,Let's hope they do alot better then last years dismal start.And finally,Here's to Nate McLouth for his play in the All Star game on Tuesday.Nate played almost 11 innings,And made a great throw to save a run from scoring.Photo Credit,Brad Lincoln-(John M.
