Captain Lou Albano

I originally was going to write a post about pick em's,Or maybe a recap of the Jerry Lewis Telethon (Yes I know it was way over a month ago).

But as I was setting up to do those posts,I saw an article that caught my eye.. WWE Wrestler dead at 76.. Well if you know anything about wrestling,There aren't to many guys left that are 76,Or have appeared in music videos..And I understand CNN is not going to give a report that would do his career justice,But I mean they practically took the obit off the WWE pages!!

Albano started his wrestling career in the 1950's,and after a few years(decades)The toll on his body was such that he had to become a manager.And that's where I remember him fondly from!

You could not turn on Saturday Morning wrestling and not find Albano,Talking his newest team,Or his newest challenge to the WWWF Heavyweight Title.



On December 28,1984 Cyndi Lauper was in the ring at Madison Square Garden to give Albano a gold record,What followed would set up the War To Settle The Score..






(Note,Hogan's music was changed by WWE 24/7 when this was broadcast,It was originally The Eye Of The Tiger).




Many people think that this match was Wrestlemania 1,This actually set up Wrestlemania.




Allen Hunter?Really? Andy Warhol,Gee Andy,Try and hide your excitement!Joe Piscipo?? Billy Squire? Personally I don't think these guys were smashed or anything...



Is it just me,Or could David Spade stand in for Allen Hunter?









I had not seen the final video until I was writing this,And funny how little things can make your mind go back.. The last thing you hear is Vince McMahon saying TNT.. My father used to watch that show every Tuesday night.It was what he was watching the night he passed away.The stories do not intersect,I just had that memory while I was writing this..
