The Hagerstown Suns finally got to play their 2008 home opener Saturday night at the Muni.More on the game in a couple moments,The real problem This: Hagerstown Suns--Gone With the Wind? Thanks to A Bag Full Of Health And Politics for the eyewitness video of this scary scene.2 things come to my mind as i watched this,1 Only by the grace of god no one got seriously injured, Or killed when this happened.2 Thank god again that this was plexiglass,Not glass,This debacle could have been 100 times worse with flying shards of glass being sent into the Municipal Stadium crowd.I encourage anyone who reads this blog to write the Mayor, and City Council of Hagerstown,Along with the Md Stadium Authority. This would not have happened if we had a new stadium of modern design. As Shawn said in his blogMusings about Sports and other important items,No one should blame Suns General Manger Will Smith for this, The Suns are responsible for upkeep on the field,The City of Hagerstown is responsible for all other areas of the stadium,It's a shame Hagerstown Mayor Bob Bruchey was not in attendance last night,Maybe he would have saw this accident first hand,And reported this back to his council.I'm almost sure the Herald Mail will not even say anything about this, So the only way people would know what happened is reading the few blogs that detail the incident,Or being in attendance at the game..Ok, so what happened on the field? Not going i.to alot of details, None actually, But the Suns took both games 2-0,and 8-0.I was there for the first game,And left in the 2 inning of the 2nd game,I never thought when i left the house to go to the game earlier in the day,That a 78 degree day would give way to low 50's with 35+ mph winds,So this made my choice of shorts, and a short sleeve shirt a very bad mistake. The Pittsburgh Pirates finished the sweep of the Cincinnati Reds with a 9-1 clubbing at PNC Park. Will try and get a post in later tonight,If not tomorrow.. until then..
