The Hagerstown Suns hosted the Lake County Captains in the Home opener at the Muni tonight,Well they were supposed to..The pictures show in order,Before the game,And the 2ND picture,Was after the 20 something minute downpour.The Suns started the 2008 home season the same way they finished last year,Poorly..Yes, i said poorly.Walking up to the ticket windows at 5pm,35 minutes before gates open,And no ticket window open.I understand this is the first game of the season,And there are bugs that need worked out,But the 1 thing you have to have working properly is your ticket sales.Once they finally opened the ticket windows,1 at a time,It was near 5:10.Once inside the park,We got the first chance to see the new infield,And some minor improvements to the outfield.Got a few autographs and talked some baseball ,Until the rain started.Once it started, It would not stop for awhile.Probably the funniest thing that happened tonight,When the tarp was being rolled out,And laid across the field, The grounds crew asked if they should put sandbags on the corners,Someone didn't think they needed said sandbags,Bad choice.During the said rainstorm,We had winds around 40-50 mph,So I'm sure you already know what was about to happen.As the tarp started blowing off, Out from the dugouts came the grounds crew.Now at this point, It was pouring,Bad.They then had to kneel on the tarp till the sandbags arrived.The rain finally stopped, But the field was VERY VERY bad.After waiting(letting fans spend ALOT of money on beers,and food)The long awaited announcement was made around 7:45 pm,This may go down as the best announcing of a delay ever.OK Suns fans, We have some good news,And some bad news.The concession stands,And the beer garden will remain open for a short time,and the fireworks will be held shortly,THEN they announce the game has been postponed.. Only in Hagerstown.The best part of the evening?Probably when we were at Shawn's house,And heard them shooting fireworks off in a downpour.Same 2 teams will attempt to play 2,First pitch 5:35pm.
