The Pittsburgh Steelers have to be very happy with the way the first 2 rounds of the NFL draft have went for them.After seeing Jonathan Stewart,And Jeff Otah get picked up,The Steelers must have thought Christmas came early.With the 23rd pick overall, the Steelers got RB Rashard Mendenall,The JR RB from Illinois.In the 2nd round the Steelers luck continued,Picking up WR Limas Sweed.This is a quote from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.You have to wonder if the Steelers have been living right to have guys like Rashard Mendenhall and Limas Sweed fall to them in this draft.The only knock on Sweed,He had torn ligaments in his wrist during the 2007 season,Which hampered his ability.If he plays like he did as a Junior at Texas State,He could be the weapon Large Ben has been looking for. Sweed is listed at 6'4 212 pounds,With sub 4.50 speed.Mendenhall is 5'11 225 pound who likes to hammer the middle of the line, And After watching some video of him, Kind of reminds me of a younger Willie Parker but more elusive.. So my guess of who the Steelers would take is way off, Of course this draft did not pan out like alot of "draft experts" had thought it would.Let's hope rounds 3-6 will be even better

Everyone was surprised about how late Sweed went - congrats on your guys' 'steal', decided not to go with the obvious pun. All i can say is i can't wait for the season to kick off to see how Phillips and Manninghame (if he can keep his act clean... if not ship him to Dallas, they seem to like the 'bad boys') play with the big boys!
I maintain that the Steelers got the best RB in the draft in Mendenhall.
Sweed I'm not totally sold on, but his value at that point is undeniable.
I was shocked Sweed fell to us that late,And yes Ryan,I know you told me Mendenhall was the best RB in the draft, All i can say is i hope so lol..As for Manningham,This guy got a 6,Yes 6 on his wonderlick..So something is wrong somewhere.I think it's just because he got his education at Michigan!!!And Joy,Just remember, week 8..10/26 Giants/Steelers.. i'll go out on a limb and say Steelers by 4..lol
Thankfully we don't need a rocket scientist to catch the ball... hopefully someone will point him the towards the right endzone. And come on, beating us by 4??? You must not have accounted for the fact that we don't have to face you at our house - LOL. Anyway i am looking forwards to FOOTBALL!!!
