The Pittsburgh Pirates had a choice to make with the number 2 overall pick this afternoon during the 2008 MLB Draft,Go with Tim Beckham,Or Pedro Alvarez,Or they could go with Buster Posey among others.The Tampa Bay Rays(i hate that name!)Made it easier for the Bucs to choose,By selecting Beckham before the draft even started.The Pirates chose Alvarez.This is the release by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Alvarez .They day was just starting for the Buccos front office as they picked up Tanner Scheppers,He is a SS converting to RHP,Here's the scouting report for Scheppers .The Bucs have also picked up Jordy Mercer,A 6'3" 190 lb SS out of Oaklahoma,Chase D'Arnaud,A 6'2" 200lb SS out of Pepperdine,And Justin Wilson a 6'2" 210lb LHP out of Fresno State.So far in 5 rounds the Bucs have take some quality players, The draft continues into Friday.
