After opening the 2010 season 2-0,Our Battlin Bucs of the Three Rivers have fallen VERY flat in the last 2 games.On Thursday Paul Maholm went 6 innings,giving up 4 runs on 4 hits.. Enter Hayden Penn.Who promptly gave up another 4 runs,On 4 hits(7 batters 1 inning).From there it was just a couple runs to add insult to injury,Final score, Dodgers 10-Buccos 2..Friday night the Bucs traveled to Arizona to take on the Dbag..I mean D Backs.. Whatever the hell they are called this season, They are almost as bad as the Angels..
Charlie Morton took the hill,And looked amazing the first 6 batters he faced,Striking out 5 of the 6...
Then things Kinda went downhill.. Morton would only strike out 1 more Arizona player in 3 and 1 third innings..The third inning would be Morton's last,Giving up 6 runs. The damage was done at that point,Call in the bull pen for some mop up time,And you start the series with a 9-1 blow out..
Pirate Flags-
A number that should very alarming,The last 2 games teams have 16,And 14 hits against our pitching..This is a very bad sign for a team that is hoping pitching would carry them..
Yes it's only 4 games in to the season,But after 2 blow out losses,You have to hope John Russell doesn't panic,And start making moves that may not be needed..Game 4 of the season may be a bit early for going crazy..
Pedro Alvarez is on fire!! 3 Home runs in 2 days,7 Runs batted in for Indianapolis,But he is not the organizations best hitter right now... That honor belongs to Jeremy Farrell..Alvarez and Farrell are both tied with 3 homers in 2 games.. But Farrell leads the minors in runs batted in..Alvarez is second.. Nice to see a couple future Bucs leading something..
