Pirates beat New York Light In game 1 of 3...
The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Red Sox last night 3-2 in front of the second largest crowd in PNC Park history..Paul Maholm worked through 5 innings, Only giving up the 1 run.. And Joel Hanrahan picked up his 21st save in as many chances..in the eight inning Jose Veras gave up singles to the first 2 batters,Then striking out Scutaro.. Next up..David Ortiz. I listened to this game online, And the Let's Go Bucs Chants started to outnumber the Let's go Sox ..It was like a scene out of a movie,Rain coming down,Fans going nuts. The stage was set.. And all Veras did was get 1 of the best hitters in the league to fly out..

Jolly Rogers

Pirates bullpen has only allowed run in 19 innings on this home stand.
Boston pitcher Tim Wakefield pitches in Pittsburgh tonight for the first time since 1992,And of course that was the last season Pittsburgh had a winning season.. Wakefield was 14-12 with a 4.17 era in his time with the Bucs.. Throwing 7 complete games.. Why they gave up him in 1995 is beyond me....
There is talk of Brad Lincoln being called up for a spot start against the Washington Nationals.. But after being torched last night. That may change..
The Pirates have flirted with,Or above 500 for the entire month..And as of now,The Bucs are 3 games out of first place!!! Let's Go Bucs Indeed!!!
Speaking of the Nationals... Manager Jim Riggleman shocked everyone on Thursday by announcing his resignation .. Riggleman was asking the club for a vote of confidence for the 2012 season..And when he did not get it..He quit following his teams win against the Mariners.. The Nationals have now won 14 out of 15 and are in the chase for the NL East.. Word has it that Davey Johnson will take over the rest of the season..
