Something Different

I was talking to a friend earlier this evening,And she was going over the last 5 days of hell due to the Pennsylvania ASPCA.Wednesday afternoon she was shocked to see ASPCA officers on her property,Checking her kennels. The fun did not stop there,She then received phone call after phone call from the ASPCA,Fearing something was wrong, She took her Pure bred puppies to another state in fear of losing them to the state. The reason why she was worried. This bill would make the following critical changes for dogs over 12 weeks old housed in large commercial kennels:
Double the cage space required for dogs. (Currently, an average-sized beagle may legally be kept in a cage about the size of your dishwasher!)
Require that every dog be seen by a licensed veterinarian at least once a year or at each pregnancy.
Require that dogs have a solid floor on which to rest, rather than spend their entire lives in tiny cages with wire flooring.
Require that all dogs be given access to an outdoor exercise area.
Prohibit cages from being stacked on top of one another.
Authorize the Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement to crack down on unlicensed kennels by giving it the legal tools to do so.
For all dogs housed in commercial kennels, regardless of age, the bill would:
Prohibit more than six dogs from being housed in one cage (except mothers with litters).
Require that dogs have clean water at all times.
Require that dogs be removed from their cages when the cages are being cleaned.
Require that housing facilities be kept between 50 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit at all times.
Require sufficient ventilation and lighting in all kennels.
Require smoke alarms and fire extinguishers in all kennels.
Prohibit anyone except a licensed veterinarian from euthanizing a dog.
It is important to note that this legislation will not regulate any hobby breeders who keep and/or transfer fewer than 26 dogs in a calendar year. Nor will it require people who show dogs or train them for sporting or hunting events to meet unreasonable standards. If that is the case,Why is the Pennsylvania ASPCA going after a breeder with LESS then 26 dogs? The animals are well taken care of, In kennels that most of us could live in!I know I'm not the most political person in the world,But when a friend is threatened with A 20 DOLLAR A DAY per dog "housing charge" 3 days after a bill is put into effect looks like a money maker to me. Between this,And my recent struggles with the Md Unemployment Insurance Commission,I really wonder if there is a voice out there that listens,And helps the working(and non working)in this world!Pardon my french,But this is the kind of bullshit that makes people so against the system,Why would we embrace something that always seems like it's trying to stab us in the back! I'm sure this isn't the last post on this subject.I just wish it wasn't something I had to write about
