The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-0 Sunday in game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals at the Igloo. Winning the Prince of Wales Trophy is nice, But I'm sure the Pens have other hardware they would like to pickup in the next couple weeks.Marc-Andre Fleury had 21 saves for his 3rd shutout of the postseason,I always hear"well the Pens should be good now, They have so many good player"True,But the former ownership wasn't worried about winning,It was worried about the bottom line. It's been a very long couple years for a team that as late as June 2007 may have been moving to Kansas City.I will admit i have not watched alot of hockey the last few years,After the strike i was bitter with the NHL,and was a casual fan,Did the whole Fantasy Hockey thing, But never wanted to watch games,Even if i could. Most fans will remember how poorly the NHL did on ESPN,so they moved to Versus,But the last year i started following alittle closer,Hoping the Pens could win more then 1 playoff game a year. The 2007-08 season started with promise,A new arena will be built beside the Igloo,Penguin players delivering season tickets,And pizza to fans,And probably one of the best ideas,Put a huge video screen up outside the Igloo,So fans who couldn't get tickets could watch,And probably hear the roar from the crown inside. But they could turn the radio on,And hear this Penguins Rink Rat Report. All i can say is Mike Lange is priceless. The Buccos went 1-3 against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley over the weekend,The bright spot for the weekend?Nate Mclouth hit his 12Th home run of the season.Mclouth and Nady are tied for 2ND in RBI''s at 36.Bucs back home at PNC Park tomorrow night against the gasp Division leading Florida Marlins.I sure wish the Pirates could drop payroll to 10 or 12 million,And always end up in first.Caught a Hagerstown Suns game on Friday,All I can say is I'm glad i didn't go to this stink fest alone!Brad Peacock may be a nice guy(i'm not saying he is or not)But he is starting to show he can't pitch final score..14-8 Kannoplis. Thanks again to Shawn ,And Mike for the baseball,And political talk!Sunday was yet another ball game,In Frederick,To see the Keys take on of my favorite teams,The Lynchburg Hillcats.Michael Crotta started for the Hillcats,Who jumped out to an early 5-0 lead took a ball off the foot in the 2nd,Not sure if that was the cause of the bad 3rd inning he faced,But may have been a part of the 5 run inning.Catcher Matt Weiters hit 2 home runs for the Keys,1 shot that I still can't get over,His first round tripper was a shot to right field,Which probably dented a car roof. The second shot was more impressive ,After taking a swing at a previous pitch,I stated and i quote"Good job swinging for the fences"Bad idea.Next pitch was put over the 400ft mark in center,And he didn't even swing hard.He may have had alittle over half swing when he hit that ball very impressive. One bright spot from yesterdays game,I finally got a foul ball.Over the last couple years,Ryan and Shawn have messed with me on how they have gotten foul balls,Hey Bob,Remember that ball that hit me in the leg while we were standing by the gift shop at the Williamsport game?Hey Bob,Remember that ball i got in Lynchburg? Finally,I can say with pride,I got a foul ball! And by the way guys,I actually had to get up and get mine, Well not so much get up, Just run alittle and if anyone knows me,Running is not a favorite of mine..Be back alittle later with another short post
