Dwight White,One of the original 4 of the famed Steel Curtain defense has passed away at age 58.He had back surgery on May,12TH,Then was hospitalized a couple weeks later due to a blood clot in his lung according to former team mate Joe Greene.Mr Greene also said Mr White's condition was improving,Then had another set back.Dwight White was drafted in the 4TH round in the 1971 NFL draft,He played his college ball at East Texas State, Being named team captain,And first team All-Lone Star Conference Player.White made his first of 2 Pro Bowls in 1972,Playing with other legendary players Mean Joe Greene,And L.C Greenwood.What Dwight White probably is best known for his performance in the team's first Super Bowl victory when he played against the Minnesota Vikings despite being hospitalized nearly the entire week with pneumonia. But Mr. White did more than just play: He was credited with a safety when he tackled Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton in the end zone after a fumbled hand off, giving the Steelers a 2-0 lead en route to a 16-6 victory.In addition to his wife Karen, Mr. White is also survived by a daughter, Stacey.
