If I were to tell you a starting pitcher in Major League Baseball would throw 47 of his 99 pitches for balls,And walk 5 could get the win you would think I was crazy.Well last night Tom Gorzelany did just that,And won!The Pirates shelled the Yankees 12-5 in the first contest between the 2 teams in Pittsburgh since the the 1960 World Series. The night was started off with 1960 Series hero Bill Mazeroski throwing out the first pitch(Both Dugouts applauded)Maybe Bill should have stuck around and pitched for the Yankees,Darrell Rasner went 5 innings,Giving up 7 runs on 10 hits. His counterpart,Tom Gorzelany,Went 6 innings,Giving up 3 runs on 6 hits,And 5 walks. The Bucs pounded out 19 hits for the second time this season,Leading the way was Freddy Sanchez lead the way with his 3 for 5 night.Adam LaRoche even got in on the fun,Hitting a ball about a foot below the top of the wall,And somehow legged it into a triple!Every Pirate starter had at least 1 hit,And the bullpen was very effective for 2 innings,Then Franquelis(Which i think is french for gas!) Osoria gave up a 2 run home run in the 9th.Attendance at the game was 38,867,The 3rd largest crowd in PNC Park history.I'm sure there will be about the same amount of fans out the next 2 games against the Bronx Bombers,Let's hope for the same results the next 2 nights!
In the wow i have never heard that before report,Terry Bradshaw said he took corticosteroids, an anti-inflammatory when he was trying to heal an elbow injury,But it's what he said before this that raised some eyebrows“We did steroids to get away the aches and the speed of healing.”Look, I wasn't born yesterday,I understand what players probably did back in the 70's.If they were legal today,You can bet ANY player who had a huge contract,Or was about to get a huge contract would popping them like candy!Yes the Steelers are my all time favorite team,Before anyone says I do not talk about anything bad a Steeler may do,I will be the first person to stand in line saying"What the hell were you thinking"And today I have to say"Terry Bradshaw,What the hell were you thinking"And finally,Joe Iacino, who coined the nickname “Orange Crush” for the 1970s Broncos defense, died Monday in Denver at age 95.So you named a defense after a soda.. hmmm.
