Here is my submission for a story that was personal for me this year. In October when we were in Ashland, Archway Cookies shut down its plant and all others everywhere but Canada. This hit Shawn's hometown hard. It was one of the few places left people can work and still get paid a decent wage. Shawn's Uncle Russell who plays in the IFL worked their for many years and lost his job when the plant closed along with hundreds of others. This town could not take the hit, not just financially but emotionally as well. I think the all would have given up a lot of hope if it hadn't been for Lance snacks.
Read the article...not only are they opening the factory back up but the got all the employees together and gave them SIZABLE gift cards as many have been unemployed the last few months. They are starting by hiring back the people with the most seniority first and then hope to get everyone else back to work soon. And, oh yeah, whatever they were getting paid before Lance snacks will honor. So, in a day when all our factories are closing up shop and moving out-not just out of the hard hit Mid-West but in many cases out of the country completely-it warmed my heart to know an American company that was so kind, generous, and caring. This affected me personally because of all the family we have there and knowing what hard workers they are and all the need is a decent company to work for and who will reward them for their hard work and loyalty. So, let encourage everyone you know to patronize Lance Snacks! Finally, a company that has a heart! Merry Christmas!
